Our Mission

Redeemed Community will understand the LORD is our God – the LORD alone. We will love the LORD our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our might! And love our neighbors as ourselves. (Det 6:4-5 & Mark 12:29-31)

Our Vision

We will be the church before we do church, and serve before service

At Redeemed Community, our vision is to live in such a way that others are compelled to ask about the hope within us and where that hope comes from. While Sunday gatherings are vital for teaching and disciple-building, we believe true impact happens in everyday life—through intentional relationships, compassionate service, and lives that speak louder than words.

We are intensely focused on serving the Mattawan community, helping disciples to grow in their relationship with God by serving others and leading those we serve toward Christ.  Like Jesus, who first served and loved before He taught, we aim to reflect His example—meeting people where they are, building relationships, and demonstrating God’s redeeming love through our actions.

What We Believe

When it comes to our faith there are some hills we will die on, those are the salvation issues. Then there are some areas that we have our beliefs, but also give space for differences of interpretations and understandings.

These are the hills we will die on:

Every person of the Jewish faith, including Jesus, from the time of Moses to present day recites the Shema found in Deut 32. They would start and end each day with “The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. This statement solidifies and reminds all those who serve the God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob they are serving Elohim the one true God who created all things. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, unchanging, perfect, completely worthy of our trust and, above all, holy. God is completely good, loving, compassionate and faithful to His people and His promises. (Deut 32:39; 1 Sam 2:2; Is 44:6-8; Mark 12:32; 1 Cor 8:6)

We believe that Jesus, being in nature God, born of a virgin, gave up His divine privileges and left the comfort of heaven, taking on the humble position of a servant, to be born into the chaos and corruption of fallen humanity. He lived innocently, died unjustly and rose again to conquer sin and death, providing a way for people to be eternally reconciled to God. (John 1:1, 14, 20:28; 1 Tim 3:16; Is 9:6; Phil 2:5-11, 3:20-21; 1 Tim 2:5-6; Matt 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-35, 24:13-39; Is 7:14, 1 John 1:7; Col 1:15-20; Rom 3:10-12, 22-24, 5:8-9; John 1:29; 2:18-22, 20:26-28)

We believe that Holy Spirit is God’s presence with humanity and convicts all people of sin. For believers, the Spirit renews the soul, empowers Christ-like living, imparts spiritual gifts, and guides people into all truth. (Joel 2:28; Matt 3:11; Acts 1:5, 2:1-4, 14-21, 32-39, 8:14-17, 10:44-47, 11:15-18, 19:1-6; Heb 2:4; Rom 12:4-8; Eph 4:1-16; 2 Tim 4:14; 1 Cor 12:1-11; 1 Pet 4:8-11)

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is Truth, in its original form and context, without any mixture or error and is completely relevant to our lives today. We also understand the Bible was written for us, but not to us; therefore, we are required to do the work of studying scripture to understand the true context and meanings and not base our understanding on the current culture and feelings. The Bible is not a respecter of our feelings, but a presenter of truths that need to be followed as such. The Bible is the basis for everything we believe and the foundation for everything we teach and do. (Psalm 119:105; Romans 15:4; 2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pet 1:20-21; Acts 17:11; 1 Thes 5:19-21)

We believe that God exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority, all actively operating in complete unity to bring salvation to people and restoration to the world. (Gen 1:26; Matt 3:16-17; Luke 1:35; Is 9:6)

In Genesis we see the account of God’s created process as He handed it down to Moses. In that account we see God's reaction to what He created at the end of each day. Each time He said the creation was good or in the Hebrew “tov”; which is good to the furthest extent. Then we see in chapter 1:26-31 God created humans in Their (Trianitarian statement) image. He gave us order, responsibility, and purpose; then He bestowed on His image bearing creation the most amazing description ever. He called humanity Tov Me’od, which is exceedingly more than good to the furthest extent. The only somewhat adequate way to describe what God thinks of you is “more gooder” than the most amazing things humans have ever or will ever see or experience. On top of all that, the God who created everything from nothing wants to be in a personal relationship with His image bearers, as evidenced by the way He would walk with His creation in the garden. Even after sin entered the world and shame & nakedness was felt by Adam and Eve, God asked two questions: “where are you?” and “who told you that you are less than I called you?” From that point in time God has been on a mission to redeem His creation to the relationship we are designed to have and for His creation to fully understand and embrace our value as Tov Me’od.

It is because of this that we believe people are created in the image of God and are the supreme object of His creation. People were created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people cannot be reconciled to God through their own efforts; our only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Every person, from conception to natural death, regardless of age, gender, race, affiliation, sexual identity or orientation, possesses dignity and immeasurable worth and is worthy of respect and love – including preborn children, elderly individuals, those with disabilities and others marginalized by society. Christians, then, are called to defend, protect and value all human life. (Gen 1:26-31, 3:1-7, 21-24; Rom 5:12-21, 8:11, 29, 12:1-2; Jer 1:5, 29:11; 1 Thes 5:19-24; 2 Cor 3:15-18; John 1:9-14, 14:6-26, 15:1-6; Rev 3:20; Prov 14:31; Isa 58:2-11; Zech 7:9-10; James 1:27)

Our Core Values

We are not the church, but part of the God’s bigger church. He calls and uses each individual community of believers to shape and impact their communities. He does this by placing unique passions and focuses in their DNA. This is who we are and what we are called to focus on. While similar to our beliefs, our values are how we express what we believe.

A.W. Tozer said “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” With this belief, our understanding of God dictates what we do with every second of our lives, therefore it is imperative we have a proper understanding of who God is. Our teaching and discipleship processes will be focused on the need to increase our understanding of who God told us He is in His scripture.

We will be a community of people who pray. We will pray as that is how we maintain a relationship with our God. We will pray for God to guide us. We will pray for those we love and those we need to learn to love. We will pray for and over the school. We will pray for and over other churches. We will pray for God to show us who we are to be intentionally building relationship with so that we can show them why they need Jesus. We will be a community of prayer.

As a wise rabbi once stated, “For us Jews, studying the Bible is more important than obeying it, because if you don’t understand it rightly you will obey it wrongly and your obedience will be disobedience.” This holds true for every believer, not just Jews. To follow God properly, we need to understand God properly. We will focus on helping people develop the skills to read and understand scripture in context so they may come to a full understanding of who God is and who He has called them to be.

It is the responsibility of all believers to develop the ability to read and understand scripture so they may be able to test what is being said in and out of the church (including those speaking and teaching at Redeemed Community) to confirm it aligns with God’s will for His creation. We are passionate about helping people develop a love and ability for understanding scripture in context so they can test it for themselves and then teach others to do the same.

Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment is. His response can be found in Mark 12:29-31. Jesus said, love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, and might, and then love your neighbor as yourself. We will love God by loving others. Loving others is a way of showing our love and devotion to God. This type of love causes those who are searching for peace and hope to be open to conversations about where our hope comes from.

Sitting in a Sunday service is not enough, but it is a start. We are focused on providing opportunities for people to learn more about God, what it means to call Him LORD, and share that faith with others. We also want to talk about BIG questions that we all face in our daily lives and equip each person to answer those questions.

Jesus spent time investing in others so they could continue the mission after He was gone. It is with that mindset we will be developing and preparing the next generation of church leaders to be prepared for what God is calling them to. A healthy church not only develops leaders to serve in that community but should help people hear God's calling to ministry outside the walls of the Redeemed Community. A healthy church sends out pastors and missionaries. It is not our job to try and retain our leaders and staff. It is our job to prepare them and send them to what God has next for them.
